This workshop is aimed at beginners. Do you know what the Internet is? Want to learn how to use web browsers, email programs, and FTP (to name a few)? Once you've gone through Internet 101, you will be able to understand what the Internet is and how to use software that works with it (or so we hope!).
If you already know your way around the Net, don't worry. There are resources here for you as well, like finding information on the 'Net, a brief history lesson, and a little bit on how the Internet works.
Tens of thousands of people have stopped by, from 60 countries -- and they have provided over 100 pages of feedback. We've done our best to make this site easy to navigate and read. Please feel free to comment on the structure or content of this site!
Do you have the software you need?
Before you start any of these modules or tutorials, make sure you have the right software. Just click on the link under the type of software you have to download a version onto your computer.
Note that if you download Netscape Navigator, you won't have to worry about downloading any other software here. The Netscape Navigator package includes a mail and news program, and is available on all platforms. If you are a beginner, this is the best start. You can worry about trying out other packages later. Yes, we know Netscape and Internet Explorer 4.0 are out -- a tutorial is in progress. However, you will only be able to download Netscape 3.01 from this site.
If you are a more experienced user, you may want to try out Eudora, WinZip, and WS_FTP. We have tutorials available for these packages.
